Charlotte County Ostomy Support Group

SCHOLARSHIP FUND

CCOSG has decided to set up a fund to help!

The support group has set up a scholarship fund to help a nurse further his or her education and become a WOCN (Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse). Every ostomate benefits from the knowledge and dedication of the WOCN that has had special education in the field of ostomy care. There are schools that offer this training to the nurse with a BS degree. Click here to see Emory Universities (Altanta, GA) program. Although Charlotte County has two of these nurses, there is a strong need for more, and therefore it is our support group has established this scholarship fund.

The amount of money available will be determined by, (1) How much is in the fund, (2) The need by the person receiving it.

At the present time, our thoughts are for this fund to be used for room and board at the college. We hope the hospital will pay the cost of the school. We also expect the hospital will have requirements as to student's stay with the hospital, which we will also have that requirement. Of course, we also require that the hospital be a local hospital, as the whole purpose of this fund is to get another WOCN in our area.

To apply for this scholarship, please contact the president of the support group. You will find his/her name and how to make contact under "Officers" in the web site.
